The Al Kader Motor Escort Unit is involved in many fund raising events throughout the year. Currently we are assisting the Shrine Center in the raffling of a 1968 Ford Mustang. The tickets are $5.00 each and only 15,000 tickets will be sold, giving ticket purchasers an incredible opportunity to win the Mustang.The drawing for the Mustang will be during the month of November and is sure to be a well attended event.
As an individual unit we are trying to raise funds to assist in the expenses of our 2011 planned trip to SDenver, Colorado and the Imperial Session there. We are holding our second annual motorcycle Poker Run on August 14th 2010. We will start at Latus Motors in Gladstone, Oregon with sign ups there. The Poker Run will culminate at the Tigard Masonic Center on Hwy 99W with BBQ, raffle prizes, a 50/50 drawing, door prizes and prizes for the top five poker hands. The ride starts at Latus Motors In Gladstone, with a ride of appximately 100 miles outside the
Portland Metro area and ends at the Tigard OreNoMah Masonic Lodge on Highway 99W. We will have
a BBQ, 50/50 drawing, door prizes, prizes for the best hands and least favorable hand.
At the end of the year we escort the A.B.A.T.E. Christmas run to the Portland Shrine Hospital. Although we don't participate specifially in raising funds for this event we escort the motorcyclists from the start of the event to the hospital. The event generally is attended by literally thousands of motorcycle enthusiasts every year and raising thousands of dollars in money and equipment for the hospital along with thousands of stuffed animal that are donated to the Shrine Children every year.
